Online Safety

As online safety is such an important yet ever-changing issue, it is an integral part of what we teach the children at school. We use the Knowsley City Learning Centre Scheme of Work from Reception - Year 6 to inspire our lessons and help us give children the digital skills they will need in future life. A big component of these lessons is online safety, from gaming to keeping passwords safe. We are aware of how quickly things can change and also how difficult it is for parents and carers to navigate online safety with children as they grow up. We keep communication between families and school open and honest so we can support the children as a team. We organise meetings so we can discuss online safety face to face and also inform parents about current issues as well as useful age-appropriate guidance:

CEOP Safety Centre Parents and carers | CEOP Education

CEOP is a UK law enforcement agency that helps children and young people who have been abused or groomed online. You can make a report to CEOP if you are worried about online sexual abuse or something has made you feel unsafe, scared or worried.

We often have informal chats with parents and carers when children tell us about something that has upset them when using in the internet out of school to further protect the children in our care.

Gemini support us with our laptop computers and iPads. Their multi-layered cybersecurity solutions protect pupils and staff at Fellview when using devices. We use SENSO, a cloud-based, category-based web content filter, that appropriately filters and blocks students from harmful or inappropriate content. This not only helps filter out inappropriate content for the children, but informs the Safeguarding officers of anything inappropriate that has been typed and pinpoints the person, the time and the device it was typed on.
