Phonics Scheme - Sounds Write

At Fellview, we use a well-researched, linguistic programme called Sounds Write to teach phonics.

All staff have taken part in Sounds Write training, allowing us to deliver high quality and impactful phonics lessons.

Children learn through a simple, multi-sensory and highly structured approach. The programme is accessible to learners at all levels and helps them to make excellent progress in reading and spelling.

The 4 key concepts that children are taught through Sounds Write are:

Letters are symbols that represent sounds
Sounds can be spelt using 1, 2, 3 or 4 letters
The same sound can be spelt in different ways
The same spelling can represent different sounds

The 3 key skills that children master through Sounds Write are:

Blending
Segmenting
Phoneme Manipulation
